08/01/20 – The ‘Tempo Effort’

Me and Rupert at Fitz Park (artist's impression)

Dear Diary…

This time I DID meet the lads (well, lad) for a fast tempo effort around Fitz Park.

Rupert and I tore the legs off each other charging around on the grass for 18′ at 8:15/mi pace.

Pain is temporary, glory lasts forever, right?

Felt the foot from the off, nothing escalated but it’s still a worry. It’d be interesting to have a look at some studies on the psychosomatic element of injuries, as I’m pretty certain that you can make things worse / not-better just by thinking you should still be sore / injured even though you’re probably pretty much fine.

Sehr interessant.

It’ll be 8 week on Friday since I did it. That’s about the upper limit of the normal, or at least, the quoted, recovery period for stress reactions / fractures.

If it goes much past that then I’ll be setting myself up as a human centipede affixed to a cow’s udders for as long as it takes to get the requisite calcium into me and my old bones.

FML.

Sucks about the injury George, but speaking of calcium, did you hear about the sound the chemistry teacher made when calcium acetate got up their nose? Ca(CH3 COO)2
